Thing 8

I decided to make a puzzle using http://bighugelabs.com/jigsaw.php. This is a picture of my 2 years old Pomeranian Chance. As a History teacher I could use this application to take photos or documents and make puzzles out of them for my students. This would make it fun for the students while learning at the same time. Like the picture of the Battle of Shiloh from my last post. I was thinking of this as a project. The project could be find a photo or document from something we have studied in class and make a puzzle and included the key facts about the photo or document you picked.

  1. Now that's a cute little dog, but I'm more of a cat person myself. Although, I like your idea about students finding a photo to discuss in class concerning recent topics covered. I had a similar idea using the Motivator from BigHugeLabs. Students would find a photo representative of a piece of literature such as a novel or poem and place a memorable quotation under the picture. It allows for creativity that has them thinking on some higher levels. I think your idea is great, especially since many students can quickly lose interest in history if it is portrayed in lecture form most of the time. Mixing things up with creative ideas will help reinforce that interest!

  2. Ethan, I am an animal person. I have three cats and three dogs. I agree that history lectures can lose a students interest, so trying to come up with creative ideas is the key to keep the interest alive.
